Oil prices dip on final trading day of 2021

New York, USA - Oil prices fell noticeably on Friday, the first decline for the week.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery lost 1.78 U.S. dollars, or 2.3 percent, to settle at 75.21 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for March delivery decreased 1.75 dollars, or 2.2 percent, to close at 77.78 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.

Investors are awaiting a key meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) as the oil alliance is set to meet on Jan. 4, where the group is expected to decide whether to continue increasing output in February. - Xinhua
