SHAH ALAM - Malaysia has been constantly dealing with matters of corruption and acts of breach of trust but the problem seems to be never-ending as no parties are taking stringent measures to combat the issue.

In its Friday sermon this week at the start of the new year, the Perak Islamic Religious Department (JAIPk) had chosen to raise awareness on combating dishonesty and corruption.

To bolster the fight against corruption, JAIPk introduce four pillars based on Islamic teachings to develop an upright community, which are as follows:-

First: Strengthen the sense of faith and conscientiousness (taqwa) among those appointed with positions, duties or responsibilities so that they have the compassion to stand for what is right and they should fear Allah SWT instead of fearing the judgement of their fellow man more.

Second: Increase efforts to instil a sense of disgust towards the act of corruption, starting from the family institution where the teaching should be implemented to children at a young age.

Third: The rakyat should voice out their objections clearly and take responsibility to expose corrupt activities of any individuals.

Fourth: The government should prove their determination in eliminating corruption in society by taking stringent and rapid measures without fear or favour.

In addition, JAIPk also urges society to be steadfast (Istiqomah) in the struggle against corruption in accordance with the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah.
