Warisan considering to contest in Johor Snap Polls

KOTA KINABALU - Parti Warisan (Warisan) will look into the finer details and analyse the situation before deciding to run in the upcoming Johor State Elections.

Its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the matter had already been informed to the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) pro tem president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

He added that Warisan has its own set of supporters in Johor thus this was not out of the question just yet.

"I have spoken Saddiq about the polls and informed him that we need to make preparations prior if we do decide to contest in Johor.

"Not only do we have supporters in various areas in the state, I am also experienced in campaigning in Johor.

"In Pasir Gudang for example, there are a lot Sabahans and Sarawakians there, as well as in Johor Bahru. But we won’t rely on them alone.

"We will look at the current situation there. We have not decided anything yet as it had only just happened. We don’t even know when is the election date.

"I will discuss with our friend Syed Saddiq first,” he told media members during the Warisan Dinner at Hakka Hall in Likas yesterday night (Jan 22).

The Johor State Assembly was officially dissolved on Saturday after Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar consented to the dissolution of the state government which gave way to the snap polls.
