SHAH ALAM - A video of a poor monkey tied up in a cage after its whole body was covered in red paint has triggered anger among netizens who slammed the culprits for the inhumane act.

According to the association, painting monkeys has become increasingly evident in the country and every year, several cases involving such cruelty towards animals were reported.

Those who did this to the monkey did not even think about the life and safety of the primate when they released it back to its habitat, they wrote.

The association added that the monkey might get hurt or even be killed as a result of being attacked by its colony which would not recognise its friend painted in red.

In the two-minute video, the monkey which was seen weak, was released back into the jungle by an individual.
