Senior (Education) Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said the students will have to instead sit for the exams in the second session in April.

"The candidates involved were from seven schools in Pasir Mas namely Sekolah Menengah Ugama (Arab) (SMU) (A) Khairiah Banggol Stol, SMU (A) Al-Falah, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Meranti, SMK Rantau Panjang, SMK Baroh Pial, SMK Gual Periok and Maahad Muhammadi, Rantau Panjang,” he said.

According to Mohd Radzi, all the students from the seven flood-affected schools will only sit for the two papers in April.

For the other papers, he said examinations will take place as scheduled. However, it depends on the flood situation.

He added that having to sit for examinations in the second session was not unusual as it was also implemented last year due students who were tested positive for Covid-19.

In the meantime, Mohd Radzi said any candidates who were affected by the floods or having difficulties to travel to examination centres could reach out to their teachers or the principal for further assistance.

"The Education Ministry will always monitor the situation to ensure the examination runs smoothly.

"We will take action if there is flood or a rise in water levels during the examination period that would affect the examination centres," he said.

He said SPM candidates whose school uniforms were damaged by the floods, could wear any appropriate clothing throughout the examination period.
