SHAH ALAM - Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah is tight-lipped on why Malaysian actors Dr Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nazri and Datuk Seri Eizlan Yusof are no longer with the ministry.

Saifuddin remained his "no comment” stance when contacted by Sinar Daily, this afternoon.

According to local daily Berita Harian, Ahmad Idham said his contract had been terminated for no reason.

The former cultural secretary was also quoted to have said that he was still searching for answers as to why he had been dismissed.

However, a source revealed to Sinar Daily that Ahmad Idham was just playing innocent, despite knowing fully well what he had done which led to the dismissal.

"There was a lot of hanky panky going on,” the source said.

The source also shared that Saifuddin was angry and upset at the two actors as well as his private secretary Datuk Fizal Fauzi for their actions.

A press conference will be held later today by Ahmad Idham and Eizlan, both of whom would like to clear their names and provide clarifications on the matter at hand.

Yesterday, Sinar Daily reported that the contracts of the two actors’ and that of Fizal's with the Foreign Ministry had been terminated.

Prior to the appointment, Ahmad Idham was the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) chief executive officer.

He resigned from the position to join Saifuddin at the ministry.

A source close to the ministry said the two celebrities were hoping to get seat allocations to contest for the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) under Bersatu’s ticket.

He said they had high political aspirations and were hoping to be endorsed by Saifuddin, who is also Perikatan Nasional Pahang chairman.

This, he said, was not welcomed by party members as they did not carry much weight in politics and had no grassroots.
