QSR Brands appoints four independent board members

Newly appointed female Board members of QSR Brands bring with them extensive expertise in their respective fields and decades of leadership experience,


SHAH ALAM - QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands) has announced the addition of four new independent directors to its board.

The three new board members are former managing director and chief executive officer of IBM Malaysia Chong Chye Neo, director of Bursa Malaysia Berhad, former head of Human Resources at several leading companies and director of Axiata Group Berhad Khoo Gaik Bee, and former Chief Financial Officer of several leading companies and Director of Ambank (M) Berhad Foong Pik Yee.

An additional board member from overseas will be appointed as a new Board member soon.

The profiles of the three new Directors are as follows:

Chong Chye Neo.

1. Chong Chye Neo retired as the managing director and chief executive officer of IBM Malaysia in December 2018.

She was the first female leader to take charge of the company since it was first established in the country 55 years ago.

In the three decades she spent at IBM, she held several leadership positions covering several areas such as technical, sales, intellectual property, business, and strategy development.

She has led teams from a variety of backgrounds and successfully driven business markets in 15 countries in Asia Pacific.

Foong Pik Yee.

2. Foong Pik Yee has served over three decades in the banking sector for several international banks and listed local public banks.

Her experience includes general management, finance, strategic planning, risk management, audit, marketing and sales, product management, and operations.

She has held several leadership positions (chief executive officer, chief financial officer, chief operating officer) for the past 15 years.

Khoo Gaik Bee.

3. Khoo Gaik Bee brings with her extensive experience from a progressive career of 39 years spanning the entire spectrum of Human Resource Management.

She has served in several homegrown and international corporations. Among them are Digital Equipment Malaysia, ICI Paints (M) Sdn Bhd, Sunway Group of Companies, and Arthur Young & Co, before retiring as director of Human Resources of Guinness Anchor Berhad in 2006.

Chairman of QSR Brands Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim said that under the new management of the chief executive officer Nehchal Khanna, QSR Brands had undergone a transformation that brought much value to the company over the course of two challenging years.

"Today's announcement is another transformation step in the administration of the Board including board composition, diversity, decision processes, risk management and control, human capital development management, and sustainability.

"As a whole, these new appointments will bring strategic oversight to QSR Brands in line with the Gold Standard of Corporate Governance,” he added.

Chief executive officer of QSR Brands Nehchal Khanna shared that the addition of four new board members will expand the experience and add to the role of the QSR Brands Board.

Both Chong and Khoo will start their service in March, while Foong Pik Yee will serve April 1 onwards.
