Adam Adli, Fahmi Zainol in the running for PKR youth chief's post

PETALING JAYA- Vocal activist Adam Adli has officially thrown his hat into the ring to vie for the PKR's youth chief position.

Adam arrived at the PKR headquarters here at 10:15 am today together with his running mate, Kamil Abdul Munim, who is also contesting for the party's deputy youth chief position.

Together with them are Danish Hairuddin and Ravinth Muralli who will also contest the party's youth vice chief posts.

Adam said that all the nominated members should do their best and unite to strengthen PKR as they head into the 15th General Election (GE15).

"This is the challenge for all party members at the grassroots and leadership levels to ensure the nominated candidates are able to strengthen PKR," he said.

Adam added that his team, known as Seangkatan, would also have three vice-chief candidates and 20 executive council candidates.

He will be competing against another former student activist Fahmi Zainol for the Youth chief’s post.

"Seangkatan has been working closely with PKR youth in preparing the party to face the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15)," said Adam.

Penang PKR Youth chief Fahmi Zainol was also present at PKR headquarters today along with his running mate Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat.

"We will work together as a team. I would consider our team as unique as we have Chinese, Indian and young female members,'' he said.

When asked about his competition with Adam, Fahmi simply stated that their competition was friendly in nature.

"This is a healthy competition as he is one of my close friends,'' he said.

The nominations begin today until Sunday (April 19) involving all PKR divisions nationwide.

It will be held at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya except in Sabah and Sarawak where candidates will carry out the nomination process in their respective states.

Over 8,000 applications for nominations for 2022 PKR party elections nominations have been submitted for branch level nationwide as of yesterday, PKR Election Committee (JPP) chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa said.

She said the nominations, which began last Friday and ended today, went smoothly and were conducted online using the ADIL App.

Among the highlights are the number two post with Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution and PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli gunning for the deputy president post.

Tian Chua will not be contesting for the vice president's post.

For the four vice-president's posts, among the names expected to contest are Kapar MP Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, chief organising secretary Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Women's chief Fuziah Salleh and Information chief Fahmi Fadzil.
