SHAH ALAM - Amanah president Mohamad Sabu has reiterated PH’s big tent strategy does not mean that the coalition is open to working with Umno or any other party within the current federal government.

In a statement today, Mohamad clarified that the big tent strategy is meant to unite the current opposition bloc in facing the 15th general election (GE15).

"The big tent approach does not include cooperation or unification with parties in the government whether it is Umno, Bersatu or Pas.

"It is not possible for PH to cooperate with traitors that have clearly betrayed the people’s trust and mandate,’’ said Mohamad.

However, Mohamad further clarified that traitors in this context were merely labelled to those who had switched allegiances and stood with Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"It is not unreasonable for us to equate those who have jumped and those who didn’t.

"It is also unreasonable to perceive PKR as a traitorous party because its deputy president and several of its MP have jumped, it is also unreasonable to label Pejuang, Warisan and Muda as traitorous due to the betrayal of Muhyiddin and Bersatu,’’ he said, referring to Bersatu chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In terms of PKR, its former deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and 11 of its MP have defected from the party during the Infamous Sheraton Move in 2020.

Mohamad stressed that Amanah is working hard to unite the opposition bloc ahead of GE15 and ensure that the mandate of the people is fulfilled.
