Muhammad Nasir hopes that this would encourage more parents to send their children to our future programmes as he believed this would create some awareness about the importance of reading the Quran.

He, however said that such acts should not be observed only during the holy month of Ramadan, but all year round and nationwide.

"This was important because the aim is to create a 'Quranic society' where people generally know how to read and understand the Quran as well as put it into practice," he said.

Meanwhile, programme manager Meen Tahrin hopes that this event would inspire both children and adults alike to read the Quran and continue reading it daily.

"Objective of this programme is to encourage children to complete reading the Quran at a young age so that when they can make it into a habit as they grow.

"We hope that this event will inspire other children to also read the Quran and at the same time, make the Quran their loyal friend.

"Today - for the kids, it is a memorable moment and should be celebrated. "Many had actually applied to participate due to certain limitations, we narrowed it down to 15 participants.

"In the future, if God-willing, we will make it a bigger and better and hope people will continue to support us when the time comes," he said.
