KOTA KINABALU - Warisan will bring Kukusan assemblyman Rina Jainal to court following her action to leave the party on Sunday.

Warisan vice-president Datuk Jaujan Sambakong said similar action was taken to the former Warisan assemblyman who had previously joined the ruling party recently.

"All of them before being appointed were bound by party rules when taking the oath of allegiance before being elected to represent Warisan when contesting in the 16th State Election.

"In the letter of appointment, all of them agreed to respect and resign if their supports have changed and hop to another party after the last state election," he said in a statement on Monday.

The statement was in respond to the action of the former Wirawati vice-chief who left Warisan to join Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat).

Jaujan added that if the fight was really for the people, they must be independent representatives and fight alone.

Meanwhile, Jaujan, who is also the Sulabayan assemblyman, asked relevant parties to stop offering remuneration to elected representatives but should instead of focus on the development of the people in the state.

He said the action seemed to turn a blind eye to the democratic process and caused the people to lose faith in the electoral system practised in the country.

"Applying pressure on elected representatives, especially the opposition, by offering remuneration to continue to maintain power is disgusting.

"This action seems to be a trend to retain power. Their target is the elected representatives who have financial problems and have forgotten their main responsibilities when the mandate was given to the people in the last state election," he said.

Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal on Sunday also informed that Rina will also receive the same fate as the five ADUNs who have left Warisan before.

"Some of them we have indeed taken to court, we are dragging them because of the agreement we have stated to them and their confession.

"That (bringing it to court) will definitely be an action we take," he said.

Five Warisan elected representatives have left the party since the 2020 Sabah state elections, namely Lahad Datu MP cum Segama assemblyman Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi, Melalap assemblyman Datuk Peter Anthony, Sebatik assemblyman Hassan A Gani Pg Amir, Sindumin assemblyman Yusof Yaacob, and Limbahau assemblyman Datuk Juil Nuatim.

Sinar Daily had reported that Rina left Warisan and wanted to focus on providing services to the people through Pakatan Harapan.
