The epicentre of the earthquake was located 37.7 kilometers south-southwest of Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 6.8 km, the bureau's Seismology Centre said.

The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Huailen County, where it measured 5-weak on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale, CWB data showed. - Bernama
