Umno veteran Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid says sometimes there are difference within a family.

KUALA LUMPUR - Umno veteran Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid has advised party members to settle differences internally.

This comes after former Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman in a tell-all press conference claimed that there was a meeting between Umno's number two Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to bring down party president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Mahdzir, the Rural Development Minister said "It's like this, some things may happen in our family. (But) the family spirit is there. So we settle (it) within our family," he said after attending Mara Corporation Sdn Bhd's 55th Anniversary celebration at Shangri La Hotel, here today.

Tajuddin had further alleged that the plot was to obtain signatures from division chiefs in a memorandum calling for Zahid's resignation with a survey showing that that this move was supported by 131 out of 191 Umno division chiefs.

However, the call to ask Zahid fizzled out after Mohamad or commonly known as Tok Mat and Najib backed out. Both are yet to respond on the matter.

On June 21, Tajuddin was removed as Umno supreme council member. Zahid had said the sudden termination of Tajuddin as a supreme council member wasn't surprising as the Pasir Salak MP himself should know the reasons for his removal.

Former Selangor Barisan information chief Isham Jalil was appointed on June 24 to replace Tajuddin.
