Man killed, six pupils injured in crash

SHAH ALAM - A 52-year-old man was killed when his vehicle collided with a Perodua Aruz as he was transporting six students at Jalan Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh earlier today.

The MPV which was driven by a woman was believed to have exited a road junction before it crashed into the Proton Exora driven by the deceased as the latter was on his way to send the children home from school.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said the department received a call at 1.08 pm and six firemen were deployed to the scene.

"The impact of the collision caused the Proton Exora to flip and roll onto the road shoulder.

"The victim, identified as Muhammad Zaki Ariffin was pronounced dead at the scene while the children who were in the car sustained minor injuries,” he said, adding that the victims were transported to Sungai Buloh hospital via ambulance including the driver of the Perodua Aruz.

Norazam said the rescue team had extracted the body of Zaki before handing him over to the police for further investigation.
