PENAMPANG - Barisan Nasional (BN) will place Sabah BN as an entity that will combine several other political parties in the state.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this was a continuation from the amendment of the Umno Constitution which had given autonomy to Sabah Umno before.

"On Nov 20, last year, the BN Supreme Council has decided that the Sabah state BN will be known as Sabah BN and several matters under the BN Constitution provided several clauses in relation to Sabah BN.

"It is to position BN Sabah as an entity that will combine several political parties in the state that want to continue with Sabah BN apart from the core parties in the state, namely Umno and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) to form Sabah BN.

"The matter will be brought to the BN Supreme Council for validation.

"The purpose of doing so is because the amendment of the Umno Constitution gives autonomy to Sabah Umno and to provide continuity to the autonomy for Sabah BN,” he said after officiating the closing ceremony of the Sabah BN convention at the International Technology and Commercial Centre (ITCC) here, on Saturday.

He also hopes that the Sabah BN leadership, including its chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar, would be able to arrange various measures suitable with the political landscape in the state.

"We understand that the political landscape and the political situation in Sabah are very dynamic. So any current or upcoming changes that occur in this political landscape will be adjusted by the Sabah BN leadership.

"Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan as the BN deputy chairman and myself will continue to monitor the political developments in Sabah.

Earlier, Zahid revealed that there were four parties which have applied to join BN at the central level and this proved the resurgence of BN.
