Not over yet for Tajuddin?

SHAH ALAM – Not over just yet for Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman's aspiration to become the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia following reports that he has officially been dropped by the government.

Sources told Sinar Daily that the Prime Minister's Office was still "sorting" the situation out.

However, one source said it was certain he would not be getting the credentials tomorrow.

"It is still a guessing game right now," one of the insiders said.

Another source said this came to light after the Umno Supreme Council had allegedly "skipped" Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri and went directly to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Previously, several news portals reported that Tajuddin’s name had been dropped as the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia.

The Star quoted a source from Wisma Putra who confirmed this.

"As far as I know, the issue is being dealt with tactfully as the Prime Minister wants Tajuddin,” said the source.

It was said that on Sunday, just before Hari Raya Aidiladha, the former Umno’s Supreme Council member’s name was initially on the list of envoys to receive their appointment letters from the King, says another source.

"The last time I checked the list before Hari Raya Haji, Tajuddin’s name was still there,” the source told the media outlet.

However, the reason Tajuddin’s name was removed from the list was unclear.

Previously, Tajuddin confirmed that he was appointed as Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia on May 17.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob himself also stated there was no need to question Tajuddin’s appointment as the ambassador.

Sinar Daily has attempted to contact Tajuddin to obtain direct confirmation about his position as ambassador, but the efforts were futile.
