Nine police officers investigated for extortion case yet to be transferred

KOTA KINABALU - Nine police officers previously investigated for allegedly being involved in an extortion case have yet to be transferred to Sabah or Sarawak.

The matter was confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

"The police have taken note of this issue and have instructed the police's management department to review the matter," he said in a press conference in conjunction with Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah (OBK), here, on Thursday.

He said he was grateful for the response from the governments of both states.

On Wednesday, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in a statement said he took the matter seriously.

He also asked the police to discuss with him as the State Security Committee chairman before taking action.

Previously, Sinar Harian reported that nine police officers that were investigated after allegedly being involved in an extortion case involving a businessman in Gombak, Selangor over drug possession, were recently transferred to Sabah and Sarawak.

The matter was revealed by Selangor Deputy Police Chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi during a special interview with Sinar Harian at Studio F, Kumpulan Karangkraf Complex, last Tuesday.
