Why pay us lesser for more orders, food riders ask after submitting memo
Almost 100 food delivery people gathered to demand better pay
PETALING JAYA - Nearly 100 food delivery riders submitted a memorandum containing six demands against p-hailing service providers in Section 51A here today.
The rainy weather did not stop them, who were mostly from Klang Valley, to gather at 4.30pm to hand over the memorandum to their company's representative before dispersing at around 6.15pm.
Muhammad Firdaus who spoke on behalf of the riders said that the six demands were made to the management of the p-hailing company because they felt oppressed and did not feel appreciated for sacrifices made while delivering food.
"We demand the company to reassess and hike payment according to the distance of the pickup and delivery.
"The pay for an order is RM5 and when we have multiple orders then the order becomes RM4 so where is the original rate, why pay us lesser for more orders?
"We also demand that the bonus awarding system be reviewed and the point system based on 'diamond' be restored," he told reporters.
Firdaus urged to abolish the scheduling system which he said made it difficult for food delivery riders.
"When there is a scheduled system, it is as if there are two castes, resulting in only full-time scheduled riders receiving orders," he said.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Khaizulnizam Mohamad Zuldin that representatives of the e-hailing and p-hailing associations will meet Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong on Monday and Human Resources minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan in the near future.
According to Khaizulnizam, his meeting with representatives of the two associations was a follow-up to the concerns by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob over issues faced by the riders.
