"I promise not to delay my court case. Until today, there are no issues from my side such as lawyers falling ill, infected with Covid-19 which I hope will not happen, getting hands bitten by a dog and such.

"I will not ask for the court to change my hearing dates to perform umrah. Yes, my passport is with the court throughout the case.

"Even if I asked for it, I will make sure that the dates won't overlap with the hearing dates.

"This is something I can guarantee, I say this because I dare to be true. What should I be afraid of if I am innocent?," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

The former youth and sports minister said many Umno leaders had tried to brush off news on the misappropriation of RM42 million funds from SRC International Sdn Bhd involving former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak by quoting his name.

Syed Saddiq however, considered the action as an attempt to divert the public's attention from Najib's case.

"I consider this as an attempt to redirect the attention from the news on Najib, the former Umno president was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years jail.

"It is not one court but the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court, all of them handed down Najib the same sentences.

"For my case, let the court decide," he wrote.
