Najib's son warns enemies may try to destroy Umno from within

Umno members at party headquarters for a special briefing after Datuk Seri Najib Razak was sentenced to a 12 year prison on Tuesday.
KUALA LUMPUR - Datuk Nizar Najib, the eldest son of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who is likely to contest for in the Pekan state seat as the 15th general election (GE15) looms said Umno is a strong party but enemies may try to destroy the Malay party from within.

"It is not easy for Umno's enemies to destroy us but they will try to destroy the party from within.

"Stop betraying and stop backstabbing. If this continues the party will die one day," he told Umno members at the party's special briefing today at the party headquarters.

"Umno needs to be strong to capture Putrajaya," he said to loud chants of Hidup Umno or long live Umno.

The special briefing comes after Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison and RM210 fine for misappropriation of SRC funds.

He fruther said he and his family are saddened by the sentence. "When we were young we saw how our father helped the nation day and night."

"He become an MP when he was just 23 years old after Razak (Hussein's) death. But I did not expect this will happen. It was like a slap," he said.

Nijar further said a lot of people in Pekan are upset as his father has always been with them.

"He is not only my father but a father figure to Malaysians," he added.

He also described his father's character. "When he was leading, a lot of people asked for him for help and he could never say no.

"And whoever knows my father they know he is a trusting man with good intentions but not everyone is sincere. Not all are with good intentions," he further said.

Najib, he said is a party man. "He is willing to sacrifice anything as long as Umno comes back to lead the nation."
