KUALA LUMPUR - Umno supreme council meeting that started at 8pm tonight ended almost three hours later with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi leaving the party headquarters, here.

Sabah BN chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin told the media that the high-level meeting focused on the coming general elections.

"Tonight we discussed the solidarity of party leaders to focus on general elections (GE15) because elections will help stabilise the country's economy,” he said.

However, he brushed off questions over the date to dissolve the Parliament.

Ismail Sabri was absent from the 2pm special briefing where party leaders including Zahid called for elections to be held soon. Ismail was said to be in Pahang to attend a programme.

Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the coalition's second convention earlier today had claimed that he was told by a Cabinet member that Ismail Sabri will table the 2023 Budget instead of the finance minister.

Muhyiddin had also asked if the Parliament will be dissolved the next day after the budget was tabled on Oct 7.
