Khairy denies quitting Umno

SHAH ALAM - Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar denies that he has left Umno as claimed in a YouTube video.

The two-minute video entitled "KJ Keluar Umno! Sah, keputusan muktamad Khairy Jamaluddin!" (KJ leaves Umno! Confirmed, this is Khairy’s final decision!) was uploaded on the channel on Thursday.

Through a post on his Instagram account, Khairy said despite previously facing various challenges, he would remain as an Umno member.

He also attached a screenshot of the video in his post.

"I don't like entertaining this kind of news, but many had messaged me and asked. I am still an Umno member.

"I won the Youth chief but was not appointed by the cabinet and was ignored, but still in Umno.

"The time when we lost the General Election (GE) and faced various political persecution, I was still Umno. When I lost (party election) for the president post and was viewed differently, I was still Umno. When I had to find a new constituency, I was still Umno.

"Don’t worry, be it then, now and forever (I will stay with Umno),” he wrote in his post, today.
