Meanwhile, the victim's son, who wanted to be known as Asri, 49, said that at the time of the incident his father, 82, who has suffered from glaucoma for the past two years, was in the house but did not hear any noise, due to the large size of the house.

Asri said that his father informed him that his male cousin came to the house to borrow money, and had previously come twice asking for money from his parents, even though he had advised his parents not to give money to that man.

"At the time of the incident, my father felt a bit strange as the house was dark, and asked a neighbour's help to call me at about 6 pm. I then rushed to my parents' house and upon arrival I found my mother lying on the sofa, unconscious, before being confirmed dead by a medical officer.

"I didn't think the cousin would come again and this is so cruel. What he did to my mother was very cruel. However, I accept this as fate and let the police take appropriate action," he said when met by reporters at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital Forensic Department here.

Asri said that after the incident he called his cousin without success, and he also learned that the man was not at his home in Rembau.

He added that the funeral prayers for his late mother will be held at the Qaryah Paroi Jaya Mosque, and she will be buried at the Chembong Muslim Cemetery, Rembau. - BERNAMA
