SHAH ALAM - Kota Kamuning state assemblyman Ganabatirau Veraman rose to fame nationwide after his video telling of Selangor Drainage and Irrigation department to take effective measures to curb floods went viral.

He was initially called rude but after the worst December floods last year, people understood his frustrations in delays carrying out flood mitigation projects.

He was pushing for water pumps to be repaired to avoid massive floods but it was not done. The impact of the floods would have been far less severe if the repair work had been done on time.

Almost a year later of lives were lost and homes damaged in the richest state in Malaysia, he spoke to Sinar Daily's Politically Frank about what has been done and left undone as the country braces for another bad monsoon season.
