PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisation (Mapim) along with 13 members of its delegation will travel to Palu, Indonesia tomorrow to inaugurate four mosques built with contributions from the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) and its agencies.

Mapim chief executive officer Dr Ahmad Sani Abdul Alim Araby said the four mosques were built at a total cost of RM1 million and were completed in 2019.

The mosques are Babul Khairat Mosque and Ar Rahman Mosque in Balaroa, Al-Muhajirin Mosque in Tondo and Nur Yahya Mosque in Bayaoge.

"However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the mosques could not be inaugurated and the residents are also reluctant to use the mosques before they are inaugurated.

So, we will not only open the four mosques but also hold the Maulidur Rasul celebration there," he told reporters after the flag-off of the Keluarga Malaysia Musaadah Squad Assistance Mission to Palu, Indonesia today.

Ahmad Sani said this mission will be led by Jakim deputy director-general (operations) Ruslan Said and they are expected to return home on Tuesday (Oct 11).

Meanwhile, Jakim director-general Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff, in her speech, said the contributions to the construction of the mosques in Palu prove that the Malaysian government is always concerned about the plight of Muslims in neighbouring countries after being hit by natural disasters.
