GE15: Pas confident to reclaim Pokok Sena seat

POKOK SENA - With the scenario surrounding 15th General Election (GE15) changing and and Pas's strength increasing after choosing to collaboratee with Perikatan Nasional (PN), the party is now more confident to contest their seats.

Pokok Sena constituency Pas President Datuk Wan Romaini Wan Salim said that he was confident the party could reclaim the Pokok Sena parliamentary seat from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah).

Wan Romaini, who is also the Kedah State Exco, said that the Pokok Sena Parliament was previously a traditional seat won by Pas and does not belong to political frog.

The Parliamentary seat was held by Amanah Vice President Datuk Mahfuz Omar for two terms.

"I am confident and optimistic that Pas will contest and win back the Pokok Sena Parliament, we have already candidates who are stronger than Mahfuz.

"We also currently have a majority in Bukit Lada and Bukit Pinang currently, we have already won the majority in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Derga is also a majority of 60 percent Malays.

"With the current situation, I am confident that Pas will take over Pokok Sena Parliament," he said.

Wan Romani had responded to a question asked during a talk at Permatang Bonglai, Sunday night.

When asked if former Kedah footballer Radhi Mat Din would be re-nominated by Pas to run for the Pokok Sena Parliament in GE15, Wan Romaini explained that the matter would be decided at the central leadership level.

"Radhi is also an influential person with the atmosphere of the majority who has the influence of young voters of 18 years.

"We put Radhi as a well-known and influential person.

"We leave it to the leadership to choose a figure who will represent Pas in the Pokok Sena Parliament," he said.

In GE14, Mahfuz won with a majority of 5,558 votes after obtaining 28,959 votes to defeat Radhi (23,401 votes) and Datuk Said Ali Syed Rastan (18,390 votes) from BN. - Awani
