SHAH ALAM - Young politicians need to be aware that a politician is a servant for the people and it is not a career, says incumbent Putrajaya MP Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

Commonly known as Ku Nan, he said Malaysia is a young country and there is a need for mature leaders who think of the people and the next generation.

"Being a politician is all about working hard and not just that you have power to do whatever you want.

"All these people, take a look at their faces, think about their future and their children’s future. It’s the key to becoming a politician.

"That’s why I said we are a young country and not matured yet about that,” he told Sinar Daily for its latest episode of Politically Frank.

He also mentioned that being a politician is not a career where someone can become after changing their job, instead it is a role to help the people.

He said young politicians are being groomed in the country and he reminded them that becoming a politician means servitude to the people.

"Remember, politics is not a career. Politics is about helping the people.

"When you become a politician, you become a servant for the people. You are the servant now.

"Any young politicians I approve of? We are grooming them, even in Putrajaya,” he said.

In addition, he advised the people to go out and vote for the 15th General Election (GE15) because their votes are important and it involves their future.

He said he could not imagine what could happen to the country if the people made the wrong choice, but they should do their part and vote.
