BAYAN LEPAS - Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim describes the claims that he is working with Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to form a new government after the 15th General Election (GE15) as slander.

In a metaphorical tone, he questioned whether the claim came from an authentic source or not.

"Anwar and Zahid want to establish a new government, where did you get that? Can Muslims make such slander?

"Ask (me) what was discussed with Anthony Loke (Secretary General of DAP) and Mohamad Sabu (President of Parti Amanah Negara), what is our stance?

"We will work hard so that we obtain a majority of at least 112 parliamentary seats in GE15 (to form the federal government)," he said when speaking at a ceremony with residents in Bayan Baru, here on Sunday.

The media previously reported that Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang allegedly said in a press conference in Kedah that there was a ploy between Umno, BN and PH to ensure that BN won less seats to give PH a big victory.

Abdul Hadi claimed that the strategy was designed to facilitate the merger of BN and PH to form the federal government following GE15, and that the ultimate goal was to save BN leaders who faced prosecution in court.

Previously, several PH leaders, including PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli, denied any collaboration between Anwar and Zahid.

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting, Anwar, who is also the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president said that the PH needs to win at least 112 seats in order to form a government without having to work with any political bloc following the GE15.

"We need to win at least 112 seats because negotiations with other political blocs (if necessary) are more focused on getting ministerial positions, how much salary and project contracts can be offered, and not on the interests of people.

"If not 112 seats, the negotiations with these factions (BN, PN bloc) are not on the basis of helping the people, more on them wanting to be ministers, how much salary will they get and how many contracts will they get," he said.

Therefore, Anwar pleaded with the people to help save the country and give a solid victory to PH to form the government and make sure there is no negotiation with any other political party.
