Political party supporters break traffic rules, say Sentul cops

KUALA LUMPUR - Police has identified several traffic violations during election campaigns at Taman Koperasi Polis Fasa 2, here, today.

Sentul District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said a viral video showing several individuals riding electric scooters in a group.

"They have violated Regulation 42 of the Traffic Rules 1959 (LN166/19596) which requires riders to ride in one lane of the road," he said in a statement on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Beh said the actions of individuals sitting at the back of the four-wheel drive vehicle in a dangerous condition were also recorded, breaking the Regulation 92 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Rules 1959 (LN170/1959) laws.

In the meantime, he said, his party will take action under Section 15 of the Road Transport Act 1987 against two 'buggy' vehicles if they are found not to have road tax or permission from the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

"As a result of the investigation, we found that the political parties involved in the campaign had a valid open public meeting permit from the Sentul District Police Chief and the campaign took place at 9am this morning," he said.
