SHAH ALAM - PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli says that if Pakatan Harapan (PH) wins on Nov 19 they will place the Malaysian-Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) under parliament.

This comes after Rafizi accused MACC chief Tan Sri Azam Baki of committing what he calls political persecution after his data company Invoke Solutions was raided twice in the last two days.

Rafizi, the Pandan candidate reportedly said that he holds Azam responsible for the MACC’s dubious manners during the searches as well as the interrogation of his staff.

"It is not my authority (to fire Azam Baki). In fact, one of the things we want to do if PH wins is that to place MACC under parliament,” Rafizi said.

"So actually no one can say that I want to fire people and so on because we want everything to go through parliament and be transparent," he added.

Rafizi also added if there is a new appointment, or if Azam Baki remains in his position, his view is that they need to get a clearance from the parliament.

"If he (Azam Baki) goes through the hearing process in parliament, and hearing, if there is controversy, this matter will arise.

"So he should be more vigilant so as not to be seen or to invite the perception that he is biased towards a certain party," said Rafizi.
