MELAKA - State Investment Senior Exco Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh is not aware of the alleged Disneyland theme park development project, which is currently creating controversy.

He said he did not receive any information regarding the project from the Caretaker Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as well as from the Exco who released the statement.

"That was outside of my knowledge and I have not received any information yet. I don't know what he (Tourism Exco) have done and there were no discussions," he said when contacted, on Friday.

Recently the state government media aired that Melaka would be developing a Disneyland and a Disney City, which will sit across 80.9 hectares of land, thus making it the largest in Southeast Asia.

The development project would also include a frictionless maglev train line with a construction cost of an estimated RM2 billion.

However, Disney officially denies any involvement in building theme parks in Malaysia.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Exco Datuk Jailani Khamis had on Friday apologised to United States-based media company, The Walt Disney Company over the confusion.

He explained it was only a plan for the development of Disney City and had yet to have any agreement regarding realising the mega project.
