GE15: Senior Umno leaders must take the blame - Khairy

SHAH ALAM - Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin supports the call for the party's president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign as did his former information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Through his Instagram post, Khairy said the prompts made by Shahril and Onn Hafiz were correct.

"Now the senior leaders must follow. Don't just stare at the result. You may won in terms of cheers at World Trade Centre (WTC), but at the expense of the country," he said on Sunday.

Shahril Sufian on Sunday announced his resignation as Umno's Information Chief and urged Zahid to step down honourably following the party's poor performance in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The same thing was stated by Onn Hafiz who urged Zahid to resign immediately as taking responsibility of BN and Umno's defeat which recorded the worst performance in GE15.

GE15 results announced until Sunday morning had BN reportedly won only 30 Parliamentary seats, a lower number of seats compared to GE14.

The official results from the Election Commission showed that BN's stronghold seats won by Umno in GE14 had fallen into the hands of Perikatan Nasional (PN).
