Leave it to the wisdom of Yang di-Pertuan Agong to pick PM -GPS

SHAH ALAM - Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg says Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will leave it to the wisdom of Yang di-Pertuan Agong to decide on who the next prime minister should be.

In a statement today, Abang Johari Openg said it is in the interest of ensuring the wellbeing of the people that, a stable and strong government is formed.

" The people's will should be respected especially in light of the current political scene," the statement read.

Abang Johari added that the best coalition to form the government would be Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

" These parties would be the best combination to demonstrate the inclusiveness of Malaysian society, which is made up of different races and religions," he added.

The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has given party leaders and coalitions leaders until 2pm today to propose their prime ministerial candidate.

It was reported yesterday that PN claimed to have the support of 112 MPs, and that it had submitted 112 statutory declarations to the King. Abang Johari was reported to have said that GPS will form the federal government with PN, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). However, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said BN has never negotiated with GPS or PN on the matter.

Meanwhile it was also reported that PH and BN are currently in the midst of negotiations to form the federal government.
