PUTRAJAYA – The authorities were urged to investigate Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding a viral letter, signed by him, stating that 30 BN MPs supported the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition government and named Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th prime minister.

Former Putrajaya Umno deputy division chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said Zahid’s action could be seen through the viral letter.

"The letter was an attempt to deceive and insult the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he said when met by reporters after lodging a report at the Putrajaya Police headquarters today.

He said the Bagan Datuk MP should feel ashamed for his actions of lying continuously.

"This was not the first time, previously we did not make any reports and this time we made a report so that at least there would be an investigation on the letter,” he said.

Faisal said he would make a complaint to the Umno Supreme Working Council (MKT) regarding Zahid’s action as soon as possible.

"We hope that the MKT would propose a disciplinary offense against him because apart from the letter, Zahid had turned his back against the top five decision causing BN’s downfall in the 15th General Election (GE15),” he said.

The letter dated Nov 22 and was signed by BN chairman Zahid went viral and informed that the matter was agreed at the BN Supreme Council meeting on Tuesday.

"I (Zahid) as BN chairman informed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong that the party together with 30 members of the Dewan Rakyat gave full confidence and support to Tambun MP Anwar to be appointed as the 10th prime minister,” Zahid said.

The letter shared by former Umno Secretary-General Tan Sri Annuar Musa on his Facebook on Wednesday was allegedly sent by Zahid to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah regarding the political situation of the country.
