SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) today said they will remain as opposition but will be open to consider other forms of cooperation with the government.

Its chairman Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin said it was crucial for PN to remain as an opposition to bring the voice of people to parliament.

"PN will play a role of tha opposition to bring the voice of rakyat to the parliament to ensure it is a government of intergrity and corruption-free," he said, adding that it is also in line with PN's principles of being caring, clean and stable government.

Muhyddin once again stressed that PN will not join the Pakatan Harapan-led government.

"We (PN) thank Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (prime minister) for offering us to join the federal government led by him.

"However, in the spirit of ensuring democracy and implementing an effective role of 'check and balance', PN will not join a government led by PH," he said.

However, he said PN is also open to considering other forms of cooperation with the government.

"For the sake of the people’s welfare and political stability, PN is prepared to discuss other forms of cooperation with the government, a scope within the government and opposition,” he said.

In his maiden press conference yesterday, Anwar confirmed that his unity government comprises PH, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Today, Anwar said Sabah's GRS would also be joining the unity government.

Anwar said the government is also supported by MPs from Warisan, Muda and Parti Bangsa Malaysia and had extended hand to other parties who are interested to join his unity government.
