ARAU - The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail has asked the state executive council members appointed today and elected representatives who won the 15th General Election to focus on development in the state and forget their political differences.

The Perlis Ruler urged all parties to focus their time and energy on economic development to face global economic uncertainty.

"We need to focus on the economy to quickly recover like other states during the global economic collapse," he said at the appointment and swearing-in ceremony for the members of the state executive council at Istana Arau today.

Also present was Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Earlier, six State Legislative Assembly members consisting of four PAS assemblymen and two Bersatu assemblymen were sworn in before Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin.

He also advised those appointed today to protect the good name of the state.

"The people will always be watching, so set a good example all the time and avoid doing things that the people despise such as corruption," he said.

The Ruler also asked the new government to continue the development projects carried out by the previous government for the welfare of the Perlis people. - BERNAMA
