SUBANG JAYA - Five individuals nearly died in a fire involving two buildings that housed a coconut milk processing plant, two electronics factories and a business office in Puchong Industrial Park here on Sunday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Norazam Khamis said all the victims were rescued.

"The five victims were local men aged between 20 to 30 years who were inside the burning factory at the time of the incident.

"All the victims were rescued before the fire broke out," he said in a statement on Monday.

He said a team of firefighters from the Subang, Petaling Jaya, Damansara and Serdang Fire and Rescue Departments, were rushed to the scene after receiving a call from the public at 11.20pm.

"Firefighters who arrived at 11.30pm at the scene then carried out extinguishing work on the two buildings housing the four factories.

"The fire caused 70 per cent destruction," he said.

However, according to him, all the victims involved were not injured.

"An investigation is still underway to identify the cause of the incident.

"Estimated losses involving the four factories are still under investigation," he said.
