SHAH ALAM - Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) requires future-proofing of its operations as a key strategy as it embarks on a transformation journey, in order to remain relevant as a financial institution, said its group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Amrin Awaluddin today,

Speaking as a panellist on the MIDF Conversations webinar, Amrin said future-proofing was key as TH's services would be required for as long as haj pilgrimage services and operations were being performed.

"We are implementing several initiatives to strengthen Tabung Haji in terms of relevance in the future, in terms of services and depositing and corporate governance," said Amrin.

"This is where we need to enhance the governance with subject matter experts, people who are well known in the industry and, first and foremost, independent. Why? To protect TH, to ensure that decisions made by management of Tabung Haji are steadfast and professionally done,” added Amrin.

He also added that TH now provides services through a mobile application named THiJARI as a part of their future-proofing plan. THiJARI is an official Lembaga Tabung Haji Malaysia mobile application which allows Tabung Haji depositors to access and manage their accounts and other related services such as accounts and hajj services.

During the webinar he also elaborated on critical challenges that TH is currently facing, such as legacy investments, hajj payment formula, competitive profit distribution and subsidiaries' performance.
