KUALA LUMPUR - Islam does not prohibit its people from incurring debt, but it urges debtors to handle their finances in accordance with syaria properly.

Global Syariah Advisor Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar stated that money and finances were the foundation for ensuring comfort and survival in addition to being able to obtain Allah SWT's blessings.

"The Al-Quran does not prohibit us from discussing and participating in financial matters because it is the basis of life.

"In addition to meeting the needs of this world, the main goal is the eternal success of the afterlife, and property and finances are the catalysts for this achievement.
