SHAH ALAM – Veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who now has enough executive power to do what he wants is a "terrifying prospect".

He further said that the government that exists today is a unity government and not a Pakatan Harapan’s.

Kadir said a unity government does not just simply mean to load the house regardless if there are "jewels or glass” as losers were appointed ministers, winners were dismissed".

"Unity government, coalition government or whatever name is given, not only must it satisfy the prime minister, ministers and their supporters, but must have integrity.

"More than that, it should satisfy or, at the very least, ease the feelings of the 14.82 million citizens who went out to vote,” Kadir added.

"Unfortunately” as the national journalist reflected, on the grounds of a unity government, the controversial appointment which was previously avoided by governments of led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

"When the Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim himself justified the appointment of people with court cases using the excuse of "innocent until proven guilty", our concern is that the argument will become a "self-fulfilling prophecy”.

"Meaning, the person who used that argument might want his opinion to come true,” he expressed his concern.

But whatever government it is, he said, good characteristics should be prioritised, and not one that is unbalanced in terms of representation of member parties or the selection of problematic characters to become ministers.
