SHAH ALAM - Communications and Digital minister Fahmi Fadzil says over 1,000 videos were blocked by TikTok just after polling day as it was said to allegedly to have "violent and extremists" content.

"Tiktok proactively blocked 1,000 content as soon as it received a complaint from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission", he said.

Some of the content was said to be on May 13 bloody riots. On the polling day, he said Tik Tok automatically blocked 130 videos.

"As a result of the meeting with TikTok on Dec 5, we will examine the existing law, this is to ensure that users obey the law".

He said his ministry has also reached out at Meta as Facebook has been more regulated since US elections.

"We also reach out to Meta for whatsapp and Facebook to reduce such content".
