ALOR SETAR - Kedah PAS Youth urged the police to investigate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his allegations that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has used gaming money to fund its political campaign in the last 15th General Election (GE15).

Its chief, who is also the Padang Terap member of parliament (MP), Nurul Amin Hamid, said the premier's allegations against the PN coalition were intended to tarnish the political bloc.

He said the allegations against PN, which purportedly used gambling money for GE15 campaigning, were uncalled for, baseless, and slanderous.

"Pas had asked the prime minister to show evidence in relation to the allegations; however, there hasn't been any proof until now.

"Therefore, I have filed a complaint with the police, seeking the force to investigate Anwar's allegations under Section 499 of the Penal Code for making slanderous statements against PN MPs," he told reporters after formally lodging a police complaint at Daerah (IPD) Alor Setar on Friday.

In a press conference after chairing the Cabinet meeting on Monday, Anwar had implied that PN's election funds were partly from gaming companies involved in special draws.

Nurul Amin said that as the election candidate in GE15, he vehemently denied that funds received were from gambling companies.

"We want the police to open an investigation paper into this allegation," he added.
