KUALA LUMPUR - Former Ketereh Umno division chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa confirmed that he has given statement to Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on funds given to Perikatan Nasional (PN) during Sabah state election two years ago.

Annuar said he had given statement last week pertaining this issue at the commision's office and will further cooperate with the anti-graft agency if needed.

"I'm relieved and happy that I have given my side of story on what happened and will continue to cooperate with MACC.

"I was accused and defamed, people said that I was sleeping with stacks of money in my bedroom, taking out million of ringgits and hence I why supported (PN chairman) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin because he had given the money. When the MACC requested me to give statement, I was very happy and told them the truth," he said in a press conference at the Muafakat Nasional (MN) headquarters here today (Thursday)

MACC has started investigations on the money PN had purportedly given to Umno.

In a video posted on TikTok on Nov 21, Annuar said Muhyiddin had met him while in Sabah to give him "tens of millions” of ringgit. This led to questions on social media about where the funds came from.

"I flew to Sabah and met Muhyiddin myself. I entered his bedroom and told him Umno didn’t have enough money and lacked funds. Muhyiddin gave tens of millions to help Umno when in Sabah,” Annuar said in the video posted after the 15th general election (GE15).

In the video, he also said allegations that the PN chairman intended to "kill” Umno were "false and fabricated”.

MACC is also set to summon Muhyiddin for questioning over the matter.
