KUALA TERENGGANU - Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar seems to be playing a game of hide and seek as the state continues to be hit by terrible floods.

In a viral social media post former Umno supreme working council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam alleged that Samsuri had been missing in action as the flood situation continues to worsen. Several screenshots of Samsuri's flight ticket to Auckland, New Zealand went viral and was shared on almost all social media platforms.

However, Samsuri had been seen visiting several temporary evacuation centres (PPS) around Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Kuala Nerus on Dec 9.

Terengganu Disaster Committee Deputy Chairman Hanafiah Mat said the absence of the Menteri Besar at the moment was not an issue as flood preparations have been carefully made.

"All of the works for disaster management in Terengganu have been arranged, all the rescuers have been deployed on the ground and the food supplies for the flood victims are also sufficient.

"I am satisfied with our preparations and preparedness to face the floods that the people of this state face every year. So, the matter of the Menteri Besar not being in Terengganu at the moment is not an issue.

Hanafiah said more concerning issues were if the evacuation centres did not receive enough essential supplies or if there was not enough food supply.

Hanafiah who is also the state Welfare, Women and Family Development exco member said all parties have worked and continue to play their role efficiently in the face of this disaster.

"As the state's disaster management deputy chairman, I am satisfied with the work done by all the flood personnel whether in the field, or at the evacuation centres (PPS).

" As far as I know all exco members and assemblymen have played their roles and have conducted the necessary checks at their respective areas and have also given aid to the victims," he said
