KUALA LUMPUR - Emilia Hanafi, the ex-wife of a businessman Datuk SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin Kamal was issued an arrest warrant by the Syariah High Court here today for failing to attend the visitation proceedings of her three children.

When contacted, Shariah lawyer Ummi Kartini, who represented SM Faisal said the court issued the warrant after Emilia, the respondent, along with her lawyer Nazri Yahya, did not appear without reason.

As a result of that matter, he said the proceedings which were scheduled to take place early today were delayed to 1pm.

During the proceeding, Sharie Judge Azzeman Omar argued that the respondent and the lawyer had failed to appear, even though the date of the last proceedings, Sept 21, was attended by both parties.

Hearing the matter, the court then issued an arrest warrant against Emilia.

It is understood it was the second arrest warrant issued by the same court against Emilia.

On June 27, Emilia, 43, served a seven-day prison sentence in Kajang Prison for failing to comply with the Shariah High Court's decision on visitation dates of her three children.

The next day, Emilia filed a judicial review application to challenge the jurisdiction of the Shariah Court here hat had sentenced her to prison.
