SHAH ALAM - Muafakat Nasional (MN) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa stresses that the non-governmental organisation (NGO) will not be registered as a political party.

The former Umno Ketereh division head said this would not happen because he refused to see more parties that would only divide the Malays, because that has been his principle since he dabbled in politics.

"I guarantee that MN cannot become a party. If there is a chance, I want to see Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Umno members who left the party to come back together.

"Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) members to also return to Umno so that there would only be Umno and Pas as well as other political parties.

"I believe that in the context of developing a nation, especially a plural society like Malaysia, there must be a main pillar and it must come from the core groups, namely bumiputera and Malays," he said.

He said this during Sinar Harian’s Sinar Live programme entitled "Apa Khabar Annuar Musa?” which was broadcasted live on all Sinar Harian digital platforms on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Annuar also revealed that the cooperation between Pas and Umno through the idea of MN has been thwarted by interested individuals to the point that the agreement failed to continue.

He said he knew that there were movements carried out that were contrary to the decision agreed upon when the idea was established.

"As the MN secretary general at that time, I moved to combine more Malay parties but there were certain people who "went around” to create a new line-up secretly.

"I didn't want to reveal it publicly at that time because I didn’t want the party to get into trouble, but I knew it. I know for a fact that efforts were made behind the scenes, to run away from the MN decision while it was decided in the Umno supreme council, the Political Bureau and the Umno General Assembly while for Pas (it was decided) in the Shura Council and muktamar.

"Until today, it has not been reshuffled," he said.
