TNB chairman Hasan Arifin to resign

KUALA LUMPUR - Former Umno lawmaker Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin is set to resign as Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) non-executive chairman.

The 69-year-old who served as TNB chairman from Oct 1, 2021 will resign on Jan 1, 2023 according to the group's filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The Edge Markets further reported that he will also relinquish his chairmanship or directorship in the respective subsidiaries within the TNB group of companies.

The board of directors of TNB also expressed its appreciation to Datuk Seri Hasan Arifin for his contribution to the company,

Hasan who was Rompin MP for two terms lost in the 15th general election by a slim majority of 1,438 votes to Bersatu's Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah.

He was also the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee chairman.

The share price of TNB closed 1.72% or 16 sen higher to RM9.46 on Thursday Dec 29 valuing the group at RM54.42 billion according to The Edge Markets.
