It was believed that a meeting held by BN Sabah led to speculation that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government led by Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor would fall.

There were also rumors that some parties were trying to collect sworn statements (SD) from State Assembly Members to topple Hajiji's government as Sabah Chief Minister where BN and the Warisan were said to be about to establish a new government.
