Sinar previously reported that the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) suggesting the government to reestablish the GST to ensure the country’s economy remained sustainable and robust.

Muda vice president Zaidel Baharuddin said the GST system was much more encompassing and transparent compared to the sales and service tax (SST) currently in its place.

He said it was a much more stable source of income for the government and it could reduce the dependence on oil and gas revenue.
