SHAH ALAM - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir's speech in conjunction with the party's second general assembly will focus on its direction after the harsh defeat in the 15th General Election (GE15).

The party’s information chief Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali said Mukhriz was expected to deliver his policy speech at 9.15am on Saturday (tomorrow).

"The president's policy speech is expected to be the main focus of the delegates and those who will be present because it will be the benchmark in restructuring Pejuang's leadership.

"It simultaneously opens up new ideas to continue Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's legacy," he said in a statement today.

Muhammad Rafique said all of the delegates in attendance will debate on the motion to decide Pejuang's course of action regarding alliances or cooperative efforts with political parties or other parties when facing a political uncertainty scenario.

He said the general assembly involved all party representatives nationwide.

He said the Pejuanita general assembly will begin in the evening, today, followed by the Pejuang Muda and Pejuanita Muda general assembly at 8pm, tonight.

"The Pejuang General Assembly will take place on Saturday at Unicorn Hotel in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

"A large number of representatives from each state are expected to attend to assess Pejuang's path after GE15.

Pejuang recorded a poor performance in GE15 when all 117 of the party's candidates lost their deposits.

Following the defeat, several Pejuang leaders resigned, including the party’s chairman Dr Mahathir and its federal territory chief Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan.
